Outagamie Landfill Expansion
Michels’ largest earth-moving project to date was a monumental endeavor that added another landfill cell, access road, stormwater ponds and on-site stockpiles to the Outagamie County Landfill in Appleton, WI. A fleet of more than 20 specialized pieces of equipment moved approximately 1.1 million cubic yards of earth, creating a 24-acre landfill cell with an average depth of 31 feet while adhering to the highest standards of safety, quality and environmental compliance.
Data from regular drone flights allowed for real-time progress tracking, providing 3D models and topographic maps that offered precise measurements of elevations, distances and volumes. The project was executed with exceptional precision and proficiency, resulting in its successful completion in half the allocated contract duration with zero lost-time incidents.
